MFPSpree 2009 rode again and had another great year. We had 22 team members this year riding for a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. This year we had a group of members consisting of the Kubala family: Dirk, Kari and Ginger, cousin Clayton and his friend Lou from BlueSky, the core members. Sevearl patients from Montgomery Family Practice rode: Carol, Ric, and Davi and friend Joni. Sleep Management and friends joined us this year: Jon, Mike and Bryan. The Corrigans were back again along with some new pharmaceutical reps: Maureen, Kendra and husband, Mat. Bethesda North employees: Joe, Dina and husband, and Dianne all rode. Our team won "BEST BANNER" thanks to Kari Kubala!
2005 was a pivotal year incorporating Children's Hospital riders and
the MS young professionals group. That year we raised over $30,000.00
for multiple sclerosis. A spin off team was created by Children's
Hospital riders and that team is doing great things fundraising for
MS. TeamBunch was spawned this year, another spinoff team from
MFPSpree inspired among others by Chris Romano, a friend dear to
MFPSpree.
2008 became a very memorable year for a very tragic reason. Milford
Beachy (our top fundraiser) and father of Nicole Hilar (MS survivor)
died in a jet ski accident just weeks before the ride. Another spinoff
team was created by his friend Brian, now riding as "The Misfits" We
are happy to see another team growing and riding for a cure to end the
devastation of multiple sclerosis. Last year, we proudly wore an image
of Milford Beachy on our light blue tshirt in memory of his efforts to
fight MS and find a cure for his daughter. This year The Misfits
sported beautiful purple and yellow riding outfits in memory of
Nicole's father, Milford Beachey.
